But beware, we are not talking about a simple mixture. BMC has developed the new Teammachine R 01 from scratch, with the collaboration, as we said, of the engineers from Red Bull Advanced Technologies. The result is one frame of 910 gr and a fork of 345 grwhich are reflected in the 7 kg final of the top range assembly in size 54.
The Teammachine R 01 wins in ‘corpulence’, with more aero profiles, product of the development work carried out between the Impec Lab of BMC i RBATthrough material and structure simulations, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyzes and wind tunnel validations.
Good proof of this is the new Halo fork, whose arms are further apart than we’re used to seeing in the pilot. The aim is to reduce the turbulence caused by the front wheel when turning at high speed, allowing this air to quickly escape from the frame.
The front area with a reduced profile, the flattened shapes of the tubes, the integrated bottle holders or the clean design of the rear tips are other examples of how the Teammachine has undergone this aerodynamic evolution.
On the other hand, the redesigned pedal box, in addition to benefiting the flow of air towards the rear triangle, plays a fundamental role because the Teammachine R 01 offer a power transfer as suitable as possible for high-performance cycling.
Stefan Christ, BMC R&D Directorcomments: “Fusing the meticulous engineering approach of Formula 1 with the knowledge of the bike from the BMC Impec Lab was just what we needed to keep pushing the limits and take this huge step forward in performance”.
Rob Gray, RBAT Technical Director, says: “Collaborating with BMC has taught us a lot about bikes. It has been fascinating to see the result of knowledge sharing between these two industries. In this project we add more CFD simulations of different conditions than would normally be done. Additional analysis helped us to hone in on areas where performance improvements are critical. The end result, the Teammachine R, is something we are very proud of.”
Raphael Meyer, CEO of Tudor Pro Cycling concludes: “At Tudor Pro Cycling, we are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in terms of performance. Working with such an innovative brand as BMC, having the opportunity to Review products in the development phase and influence the outcome is an advantage that we value very much. Riders who had the opportunity to Review the new BMC Teammachine R and our innovation team are convinced of the bike’s performance. We have already won two races with this bike and we are sure that it will help us achieve more victories”.
