The new Liv Devote model of The LIV brand is a sui generis brand since it focuses exclusively on women cyclists, offering them a wide variety of products ranging from various types of bicycles (urban, MTB, road, gravel, electric, etc.) and even clothing, going through accessories for bicycles and tools.
It has a great advantage; It is backed by Giant , which is let’s say the mother brand. This allows you to take advantage of your supply chains, experience, and economies of scale. LIV already offered the Brava cyclocross bike model and the Avail for endurance, which could well be used for gravel with wider tires, but LIV decided to get into the gravel world as well and just introduced its Devote line .
Devote Profile and Features
The LIV brand is one of the very few brands focused exclusively on designing bikes and products for women . Other world-renowned brands such as Trek or Specialized also offer models for this market, but they do so under the same brand. In addition, both have offered gravel models for women for at least a year , so LIV was behind schedule.
But this handicap has been addressed with the release of the Devote. LIV promotes it not only for the practice of gravel cycling, but also for daily use on streets, highways or on paths. LIV adds that it is even ideal for trips (bikepacking) .
Regarding its geometry, it is a fact that LIV borrowed the lines and design of the Revolt from Giant . The sloping has a steep drop due to a rather long head tube. The upper chainstays are dropped and the chainstays are also dropped, making the latter position the bottom bracket shell closer to the ground (for better stability), unlike road or MTB bikes.
In all its models the wiring is internal and accepts tires up to 45c , it has three bottle holder supports.
Regarding the material of the LIV frame, it uses two materials : Aluminum for the Devote 1 and 2 (although carbon fork) and carbon for the Devote Advanced 1, 2 and PRO.
In all its models the wiring is internal and accepts tires up to 45c , it has three bottle cage supports and they are equipped with eyelets that facilitate the installation of racks, mudguards and other travel or transfer accessories.
Another welcome feature is that it adopts the D-Fuse design on the handlebars and seat post , which helps absorb vibrations from bumps in the road.
Another common feature in all the Devote options is that it includes reflective tapes in the frame on the seat post and on the upper pods, generating greater visibility, mainly at night.
There are five versions of the Devote (two with an aluminum frame and three in carbon), although their availability varies by country.
The Devote 1 is the highest level aluminum frame version. The group is Shimano GRX 400 with hydraulic brakes and 10 speeds . The crankset is FSA Omega Adventure. You have two chainrings with 48/32t. Cassette 11×34. Giant CrossCut AT 2 tires measuring 700x38c and Tubeless , the same ones used by the Revolt. The wheels are Giant S-X2 Disc in aluminum and the LIV Approach saddle. Its price is €1,399 or US $1,643.
In the Devote line there are five options that cover a good part of tastes and budgets. Compete against other brands that also offer women’s gravel bikes like Trek and Specialized.
It is the lower level version with an aluminum frame and therefore its group is Shimano Sora with Tektro mechanical brakes and 9 speeds . The chainset is FSA Vero Pro with a 48/32t distribution. Cassette 11×34. Also Giant CrossCut AT 2 tires measuring 700x38c and Tubeless . The wheels are the same as those of its big sister being Giant S-X2 Disc and the saddle is also LIV Approach. Its price is €1,020 or US $1,200.
Devote Advanced PRO
The Advanced Pro is the highest level version in the entire Devote range. Carbon frame. The group is SRAM Force eTap AXS with 12 speeds . The chainset is SRAM Force D1 DUB, 30/43. Cassette 10×36. Maxxis Velocita tires , 700x40c , Tubeless. The wheels are Giant CXR-2 carbon and the LIV Alacra SL saddle. Its price is €4,850 or US $5,700.
Without a doubt, the Advanced 1 is the most aggressive version of all the Devotes. If you ride mostly in mountainous areas with rough gravel roads or trails, this is the best option.
Devote Advanced 1
The Advanced 1 is the only one with a 40t 1x drivetrain with Shimano GRX 810 shifters and a GRX 812 rear derailleur. LIV fitted it with GRX hydraulic brakes but from the 400 series. Carbon frame. Cassette 11×42. Maxxis Rambler tires measuring 700x45c, Tubeless. The wheels are Giant P-X2 aluminum and the LIV Approach saddle. Another feature that makes it different (besides the thick tires and a single chainring) is that it has a dropper post. Without a doubt, the Advanced 1 is the most aggressive version of all the Devotes. If you ride mostly in mountainous areas with rough gravel roads or trails, this is the best option. Its price is €2,650 or US $3,100
Devote Advanced 2
The Advanced 2 is for me the one with the most elegant color. LIV calls this color “rosewood”. Its frame is carbon. The group is Shimano GRX but with different level components; Shifters are GRX 600, GRX 800 series front and rear derailleurs . The GRX 400 series brakes. The chainset is Praxis Alba 48/32, Shimano 105 11×34 cassette and 11 speed. Giant CrossCut AT1 tires size 700x40c , Tubeless. The wheels are Giant P-X2 aluminum and the LIV Approach saddle. Its price is €2,130 or US $2,500.
The Liv Devote gravel bike is an excellent option for women who are looking for a reliable and versatile bike to take on a variety of terrain types. It has a lightweight aluminum frame, carbon fork, and a comfortable geometry that allows for a smooth and stable ride. The bike is also equipped with quality components, such as the Shimano GRX drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and tubeless-ready wheels.
One of the standout features of the Liv Devote is its versatility. It can handle rough terrain, including gravel and dirt roads, as well as paved roads. The bike is also designed with female-specific needs in mind, such as a women’s-specific saddle and handlebars.
Overall, the Liv Devote is a great choice for women who want a reliable and high-performing bike that can handle a variety of terrain types. It’s also a comfortable and enjoyable ride, making it a great option for longer rides and touring.
