The town of Noja in Cantabria hosted this Sunday the celebration of the first meeting of the Cofidis Women’s Cup of Spain of the current season, where Luca Ruiz won the lite-Under23 category by defeating his rivals on the line of goal

From the start at 10:00 a.m., the runners of the Eneicat team perfectly managed a race in which they started as favorites, and in the end it was Luca Ruiz herself who took the jersey leader of the national contest. The Cantabrian cyclist has shown one more day her decisiveness in the last few meters with a spectacular backstroke that has helped her climb to the top of the pack today. Next to her, the also Under-23 Susana Prez (Ro Miera) and her teammate Isabel Martn have completed the podium after completing the 82.6 kilometers of the arduous route through the Trasmiera region.

“It was a great race… Pretty good overall because we knew how to control it from the start. We managed to get three runners on the breakaway and from behind the team covered the possible cuts very well. Once he took the breakaway, we kept going and in the end we were able to finish all this great work of the team”, explained Luca Ruiz after beating Noja.

In the junior test, Oneka Snchez was the highlight of the day thanks to her easy victory. The Team Zatika cyclist has shown signs of her enormous potential for this edition of the Fminas Cofidis Cup of Spain by clearly dominating her rivals, ahead of the second ranked by 45 seconds.

After a very even start to the race, the first step through the finish arch marked certain inequalities between the participants, and the second climb to Alt de Sant Mams ended up being the key to resolving the dispute. After this ascent, Oneka Snchez opened up a distance from the chasing group and managed to cross the finish line alone. Arene Prez, also from Team Zatika and Ins Mndez (UC Fuenlabrada) finished the test in second and third position respectively; in another exciting sprint that decided the remaining positions on the podium.

Paula Ostiz is another big name of the day, continuing her dominance in the cadet category. The reigning champion remains on the path to success in this Cup of Spain Fminas Cofidis after an immaculate 2022 where she finished in first position in all tests.

The cyclist from l’Ermitagaa dominated the race from the start, remaining in the first positions of the group during the 38.7 kilometers of the route set by the organization of the Club Ciclista Noja. Although it wasn’t until the last meters when the Navarre managed to take off from Leyre Almena (Teika) to lift the leader’s jersey. For her part, the current Champion of Spain in children’s age Lidia Castro (Rio Miera), debuts in the cadet category with an extraordinary third position.
