Colnago marks territory with the C68 Gravel. The model has inherited some key points from the road-going C68s, however a tire width of up to 42 mm, a unique geometry and the new integrated handlebar they give it an identity of its own. The range is handcrafted in Italy and starts at 7,250 euros.
After embracing the gravel with the G3-X, Colnago now raises its claims in the category with the C68 Gravel. The iconic Italian firm has launched a model that is part of the series C; this concept with which Colnago seeks to unite in a single machine benefits and comfort. The same soul which gives life to the C68 Road and the C68 Allroad also permeates the pipes of this new creation from today.
Colnago has tried to make the C68 Gravel enjoy a bike in which, they claim, the project revolves around clean design, integration and modernity. As with the rest of the series, the range is handcrafted in Italy.
The painting has the same multi-piece modular construction as the C68 Road and C68 Allroad; that is to say, it is formed by the union of several carbon tubes. Even so, Colnago explains that the profile of the tubes of the gravel model is unique, since in order to make the frame more resistant they have widened them slightly. On the other hand, mark one weight of 1,150 grams.
The geometry it is one of the factors on which the authenticity of the model pivots. The C68 Gravel breaks with the measurements of the G3-X and bets a longer reach -386 mm- and a higher stack -555 mm- to gain in ergonomics, but maintain aggressiveness. Besides, the steering angle is 70.5 degrees.
The C68 Gravel supports a maximum tire width of 42mm. The measure falls a bit short with other market options, though strengthens the competitive nature of the new Italian creation. Similarly, Colnago sells the entire range with rigid fork, although in this case the painting has indeed been designed to be able to accommodate forks with suspension and other handlebars other than the standard one.
The CC.01 Wide integrated handlebar it is also unique to this gravel. The changes they have adopted go through an increase in flare, a reach of 72.5 mm -shorter than the C68 Road and the C68 Allroad- i a drop of 120 mm.
Colnago has announced that there will be five power-handlebar options; the stems will be between 80-120 mm in length and all the handlebars will have the same width, which will be 40 cm in the central part.
The model offers two bottle holders, top tube mounts for installing a bag, T47 pedals and a more powerful seatpost clamping system. The range consists of three mounts, although all share the Selle Italia Regal Short Open Fit CRB saddle and 40mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel TLR tyres.
The range of the Colnago C68 Gravel starts with a version equipped with Shimano GRX RX820 and Fulcrum Rapid Red 900 wheels, available for 7,250 euros. On another step is the one that shines SRAM Force XPLR AXS group and Fulcrum Rapid Red 500 wheels, with a price of 8,690 euros. And finally, the range stopper comes with SRAM Red XPLR eTap AXS and Zipp 303S wheels and is priced at 12,010 euros.
