Nukeproof’s new Digger leans into its mountain bike roots with a complete redesign for confidence on technical descents and is more versatile on long adventures.

The idea of the Digger started as a “what if” project with famed rider Sam Hill and turned into a cult product in Nukeproof’s predominantly flat bar product line. Its popularity has only grown since the explosion of gravel racing, and with that comes a redesign. Nukeproof let their design team veer into familiar territory and gave the Digger the soul of a mountain bike.

Something Different — Nukeproof Digger

The Digger offers something slightly different from most of the gravel bikes on the market. This Digger seeks out the gravel-curious enduro and downhill crowds, calling them to long-distance adventures, but still, able to hit the features.

The updated Digger includes a fully redesigned frame. The 6061-T6 frame boasts all-new tube profiles to create a more resilient and reliable ride on backcountry adventures. The head tube on the updated Digger is slacked-out 2 degrees and the reach increased by 20mm across all sizes.

The updated geo allows shorter stems to improve rider confidence and control in the corners and technical features. The design team revamped the tire clearance, fitting an aggressive 700c x 45mm tire, with about 7mm of clearance extra to clear the grossest of trail debris.

Nukeproof has also reengineered the fork to use T800 UD carbon. This new full carbon fork claims to offer a much stiffer and direct ride, enhancing handling and damping trail chatter.

Spec’d to shred

With its new shred-friendly geometry, Nukeproof went all-in with compatible componentry; wide bars, dropper posts, and a 1x drivetrain. Nukeproof designed the seat post to be shorter, allowing for longer dropper posts. The Digger now employs a 31.6mm dropper, so finding a trustworthy seat post should be an easy task, or you can swap one out from your mountain setup.

The Digger also sees an update with more utility, now outfitted with gear and accessory mounts, fork bag mounting points, and double water bottle mounts.

    • Nukeproof may have nailed the design, but let’s not forget that shredding gravel trails could cause serious environmental damage. It’s important to enjoy outdoor activities responsibly, respecting nature and leaving no trace.

  1. Eh, I don’t get the hype. The Nukeproof Digger seems overrated, just another bike in a sea of options. But hey, if it gets you excited to shred some gravel, go for it. Different strokes for different folks, right?

  2. Sorry, but I don’t see what all the hype is about. The Nukeproof Digger may have its fans, but it’s not exactly groundbreaking. Stick to what works for you and enjoy your biking journey.

    • Gravel bikes offer a unique riding experience that mountain bikes can’t replicate. They provide versatility on various terrains, making them ideal for long-distance rides. While mountain bikes are great for off-road adventures, they lack the efficiency and speed that gravel bikes offer on smoother surfaces. #ChooseWisely

    • Are you serious? The Nukeproof Digger’s new design is a complete disappointment. It looks like a cheap knockoff of other gravel bikes. I wouldn’t waste my money on it. Stick to something more legit if you want a real shredding experience.
