Introducing Otso Cycles: A New Brand from Wolf Tooth Components
The team at Wolf Tooth Cycles has been working on a new product range for years, and they have finally unveiled their latest project: Otso Cycles. Named after the spirit of the bear in Finnish mythology, Otso Cycles joins Wolf Tooth Components as a brand named after revered creatures. But Otso Cycles is more than just another bike manufacturer – their bikes have unique features that set them apart from the competition.
Tuning Chip Dropouts: A Versatile Solution
Both the Warakin gravel bike and the Voytek fat bike from Otso Cycles feature Tuning Chip dropouts, which offer a versatile solution for adjusting the bike’s geometry. Unlike traditional sliding dropouts, the Tuning Chip dropouts are stationary, eliminating slipping and reducing creaking. Otso also plans to release a solution for running single speeds in the dropouts. The dropouts have two different tuning chips, allowing for a total adjustment of 20mm in chainstay length with 10mm increments. This also affects the head tube angle by +/-0.2º. The Tuning Chip dropouts not only alter the geometry, but also allow for different tire clearances.
Voytek: The Ultimate Pedalable Fat Bike
The Voytek fat bike from Otso Cycles is designed to address one common issue with fat bikes – the wide Q factor. Otso has reduced the Q factor by using a PF 107 shell, equivalent to an 83mm threaded shell, in combination with a Race Face Cinch crank and a 83mm/PF 107 XC spindle. This creates one of the most pedalable fat bikes on the market, while still allowing for clearance of up to 4.6″ tires with a 177mm rear hub. The Voytek’s geometry also makes it suitable for plus size wheelsets, offering a versatile ride for both fat biking and summer riding.
Warakin: The All Road Monster
If fat or plus bikes aren’t your thing, Otso Cycles also offers the Warakin, an all road bike made from custom butted austenitic stainless steel. This unique forming method gives the bike the ride qualities of steel, the snappy feel of titanium, and the corrosion resistance you would expect from stainless steel. Available in six sizes, the Warakin is a versatile bike that can handle any road condition.
Both the Voytek and the Warakin are available for pre-order, with bikes shipping in October. Prices start at $2299 for the Warakin frankset and $3899 for complete rigid builds of the Voytek. Upgrades and add ons are also available to customize your bike to your liking.
