This Year Marks Vulpine’s 5 Year Anniversary
This year, British premium clothing maker Vulpine is celebrating 5 years of crafting kit to wear on and off the bike for the urban cyclist. Founder Nick Hussey decided to commemorate this milestone by having a custom steel bike made by Feather Cycles, just like he did when he first launched the brand. Through a collaboration with August Bicycles and framebuilder Gavin Buxton, two unique steel bikes were created to cater to the different riding styles of the Vulpine founders.
Nick’s Gravel Road Slaying Commuter: The Beyond Urban
Nick’s bike, named The Beyond Urban, is designed to be a fast do-it-all gravel road bike with a relatively upright fit for long ride comfort. It features a fillet brazed frame made from a mix of butted Columbus Spirit & Life tubing, with an external Hope headset. The bike is equipped with a Fizik cockpit and contact points, a TRP full carbon cyclocross fork, and a no-nonsense Ultegra Di2 drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes. It also has unique features such as a laser-perforated seatstay bridge and custom machined disc dropouts. The Beyond Urban is priced at £3850.
Emmalou’s Stylish Mixte: The Handsome Mixte
Emmalou’s bike, named The Handsome Mixte, is all about enjoying life while riding. It has a classic look and is designed for practicality and comfort. The bike is built from a mix of fillet brazed and bi-laminate construction with butted Columbus Zona, XCR stainless, and straight gauge aircraft 4130 tubing. It features a Pacenti Paris Brest fork crown and custom August dropouts. The Handsome Mixte is equipped with a polished silver Campagnolo Potenza 2×11 groupset, Paul Comp racer brakes, and a N.O.S. silver Campagnolo Record headset. The bike also has unique details such as customized thumbies made from Record TT shifters and de-anodized Campagnolo Record hubs. The estimated price for The Handsome Mixte is £3220.
Both bikes are united by their classic styling, attention to detail, and the navy blue & red color palette of Vulpine’s Made in Britain line. These limited edition bikes can be purchased through the framebuilder. Take a closer look at the fine details and finishing in the photos below.
